The following are several types of inspections carried out that day:
Examinations carried out during medical checkups
- Checking Body Weight and Height
One of the basics in health assessment is to measure body weight and height. It is important to ensure students have a body mass index (BMI) healthy and proportional. A balance between weight and height is very important for a pilot to maintain stamina and long-term health. - Blood Pressure Checking
Blood pressure is an important indicator of cardiovascular health. This examination helps detect the presence of hypertension or hypotension which can affect student performance in stressful situations, like flying. - HBSAG inspection
HBSAG (Hepatitis B Surface Antigen) is a test to detect the presence of hepatitis B infection in the body. This disease can cause serious complications if not treated properly. With this check, It is hoped that students who are detected positive can immediately receive the necessary medical treatment. - Eye Test
Good vision is one of the main requirements for a pilot. Eye tests are conducted to ensure that students have perfect or near perfect vision, so that it is able to read instruments clearly and identify objects in the air precisely. - Color Blind Test
Apart from the eye test, Color blindness testing is also very important. Pilots must be able to distinguish colors clearly, especially for reading maps, signal lights on the runway, and other instruments that use color coding. - General Inspection
General examination includes checking various other aspects of health, such as heart conditions, lungs, reflex, and other general health. This is to ensure that there are no hidden medical conditions that could interfere with the training process or flight operations later.
